Review: The Dot Girl First Period Kit


Do you remember your first period? I do. I was in my second year of middle school. I remember being both scared and embarrassed. At the time, I didn’t have the chance to have the “talk” with my mom. But, what I knew about my period I had managed to learn from friends who had already started their periods, and sexual education classes. I’ll be honest I wasn’t prepared for a period or the horribly intense cramps.
My daughter is still too young to have the “talk” with since she is only two years old. Girls generally start their periods between ten and fourteen years old. (With exceptions). But, for the moms who have daughters who are nearing puberty, I highly suggest purchasing the Dot Girl First Period Kit.
Inside the stylish pink pouch is period answer book. The answer book has twenty typical questions asked by young girls about menstruation. It also answered questions about which types of pads to use, how to track your periods, how long they may bleed, and cramping. Inside of the pouch was five sanitary pads, five disposable bags, two antibacterial wipes, and a small heating pad.
The heating pad is not only re-usable, but you can use it as a cold pack as well. To activate it, you just pinch the little metal disk in the center. It gets warm enough to do the trick, but not so hot that it burns the skin. When the heat pad starts to cool off it starts to become hard. To re-use the heating pad all you have to do is boil it for ten minutes. This is a product that every parents should purchase for their tween.

The best part about the kit? It can easily slip into ones purse/backpack for school or vacations.

Sleeping With Cats

I found this while clicking through I Can Haz Cheeseburger. Dh and I have three cats, and I can't even begin to tell you how true this is. Generally our largest cat, Unk, is the butt warmer. He is a 25 lb Maine Coon. Atticus, a siamese, takes over the pillows. And, Marley, our Japanese bobtail is the in-betweener.  Looks like we only need three more cats. JUST KIDDING! 




Apple Pie by Someones Grandma Ople

Hi everyone! I have been itching to make an Apple Pie since, well, since I bought two giant bags of apple and noticed little spots on them. (Yeah, I forgot to make an Apple Pie until the apples almost went bad. That's me. Forgetful). Since I had never made an Apple Pie before, I went to google. The first website I went to was All recipes . Anyways, I thought I would share with you all. It was super easy to make, and tasted really good. Though, I got too excited and took my pie out ten minutes too early. The apples were still a little too crunchy! Grandma Ople, I don't know who you are but you get an A+ in my book for an awesome Apple Pie recipe. Enjoy:


Ingredients

  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 8 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.
  2. Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.
  3. Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.
