Crock Pot Hawaiian Chicken

I wanted to try something new for dinner that maybe dh would appreciate. I should have known there would have been something he would not have liked. I think even if he liked a recipe, there would be something he didn't like in it. Or, something he would have changed. All I can say is.. I tried my hardest. I found this recipe on Pinterest. All I can say is, there wasn't a lot of left overs. So, it couldn't have been too horrible. I didn't take any pictures so I linked you to the blog I found the recipe on Six Sisters' Stuff.

Ingredients:

4-6 boneless chicken breasts (I threw in 6 frozen)
1 bottle of Archers Hawaiian style Barbque sauce (I used Honey bbq)
1 can of pineapple chunks, drained
Rice, I used two boil bags.

Instructions:

Place frozen chicken breast in the crock pot, and cover with sauce. Empty can of drained pineapple chunks on top. Cook on high for 2-3 hours OR low for 4-6 hours. (I cooked on low). Shred chicken with two forks while still in the crock pot so the chicken will be well coated with sauce. Serve over rice.

Here are a few pictures from Six Sisters' Stuff:

How to Clean Microfiber Furniture

Dh and I bought our couches from Weekends Only not too long after we moved to Saint Louis. After our second move, I started to notice the microfiber was no longer this nice brown. It was more like a brown with dingy marks all over it. Baby G's cups left wet spots, the dog has rubbed her face all over it, and lets face we have had a few "whoops" moments with our drinks too.

This is pretty much what all the cushions look(d) like. I worried we would have to replace the entire couch with our next move. But, after seeing this done in another blog.. I HAD to try it.

Step One: Fill Spray bottle with Rubbing Alcohol. (RUBBING is the key word)
Step Two: Get a scrub brush with a white scrubber. (Any other color may transfer to your couch.)
Step Three: Spray and scrub.

Here is my final CLEAN product. I almost jumped for joy. There are still several spots that could use another scrubbing in a few days. Please note this is the same cushion from the first picture. LOOK AT HOW CLEAN IT IS!

Gag! This is what my scrub brush looked like in the end. It definitely needed that scrubbing!

If you are worried about discoloration to your microfiber cushions/couch try a "Strand" test on a spot that is less noticeable. I started with a side, and worked my way around.

And, some for adults too. I absolutely love Halloween. Later, I will pick up with DIY Halloween costumes! We are making our Golden Retriever a pirate costume, since the entire family is going as pirates! That is true love.

These are super cute, easy recipes for Halloween get togethers/parties. However, these would be great to make "just because". Ginni and I are making the spider deviled eggs for the annual halloween bash at her great uncles house.

Water Marble Nail Art

I was curious, a little too curious. It looks so awesome.. in pictures. I saw a tutorial for water marble nail art on Pinterest. (I am addicted, I know.) After pinning it a friend, Susan, tried it. After seeing her results, I couldn't help but find out for myself. She said when you coated your nails, it was really thick and took a while to dry. No lie there. Lets do a few comparisons.

The tutorials results:

My results:

Okay, so.. this picture isn't the best quality, and my nails really don't look horrible. But, I did notice that it is still all over my cuticles. (Yuck) I think my next go at water marble nail art I will take the advice of several other blogs and put tape around my fingers making clean up easier. I went through at least 25-50 Q-tips! So, if you want to try water marble nail art I suggest going to Youtube and using Simple Little Pleasures tutorials. She has a million of them, all great. From taping off your nails, how to get the water marble effect, to clean up.

Carmel Stuffed Apple Cider Cookies

I stumbled upon this recipe while searching around on Pinterest. Since fall is coming-and-going I thought why not try a few fall recipes? Besides, it is Aaron's favorite time of the year. When I found this, I won't lie, I questioned wither it would be good or not. I even worried while I was baking them, that they wouldn't live up to the hype. However, they were fantastic. Absolutely to die for. I won't keep therecipe from you any longer.

Caramel Stuffed Apple Cider Cookies
Ingredients
1 cup softened butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 box (7.4 oz) Alpine Spiced Apple Cider Instant Original Drink mix -not sug
ar free- all 10 packets (I found this in my grocery store near the hot chocolate mixes.)
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 cups all purpose flour
1 bag Kraft Caramels (14 oz)

Directions
  • Preheat oven to 350° F. Line cookie sheets with parchment. (You really need the parchment!)
  • In a small bowl whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder and cinnamon.
  • With your mixer (or an energetic spoon) cream together butter, sugar, salt and all 10 packages of apple cider drink mix powder, until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla and mix well.
  • Gradually add flour mixture to butter/egg mixture. Mix until just combined.
  • Refrigerate for about an hour. (If you're really impatient you don't have to do this, but it makes it so much easier to work with.)
  • When you are ready to bake, unwrap your caramels.
  • Scoop out cookie dough ball about the size of a walnut. (I used a rounded cookie scoop-full. My scoop holds about a Tablespoon.)
  • Flatten the ball of dough slightly in the palm of your hand. Press the unwrapped caramel into the center of your dough and seal the dough around it, covering it completely. Place on parchment covered cookie sheets 2 inches apart.
  • Bake 12-14 minutes, or until very lightly browned around the edges. Please don't over-bake! Once the cookies are done, slide the parchment off of the baking sheet right out onto the counter. Allow cookies to partially cool on the parchment. When cookies are cool enough to be firm but still slightly warm, carefully twist off of parchment and allow to finish cooling upside down (either on the parchment or on a rack.) If you forget about them and they cool too much and stick to your parchment, put them into the freezer for a few minutes and they'll pop right off.
  • Yield: about 4 dozen, depending on how large you make your cookies (or how many caramels have been snitched out of your bag before you begin.) Store in an airtight container.

While, I enjoyed these cookies to the fullest.. I have to agree. These cookies are best enjoyed over a hot cup of tea/coffee or warmed in the microwave. My only complaint was that if not warmed, the caramel sat in the middle of cookie. For my next batch, before putting the caramel into the cookie, I am going to flatten the caramel so there is all over coverage with or without heating them. These cookies are absolutely amazing. GO. BAKE. NOW!
